Walking North to South of the Languedoc-Roussillon Region(Day 8 to 10)

A 500 km walk completed in 21 days. My chosen way to get fitter and in the process experience the amazing diversity of the Languedoc-Roussillon Region. I started my journey from the volcanic and granitic plateau of the Aubrac ending it in the Pyrennees flirting with the Spanish border.

Le Bousquet d’Orb (Hérault) - Minerve (Hérault): Jumped on a train from Millau down to Le Bousquet d’Orb to experience slow travel at its best. Headed west towards the Regional Natural Park of the Haut Languedoc. From the spa town of Lamalou-les-Bains I entered the Caroux area: Superb landscape reminiscent of some remote Norwegian countryside barely inhabited except for the presence of mouflons. Then I hiked down the impressive Heric Gorges and its numerous natural pools, great spot for wild swimming. I then followed the Orb river passing by the delicious small town of Olargues and heading south towards Minerve in Premian. Thought I reached the bottom of the world in Pardailhan so remote is thi part of France. But spectacular views reaching out to the city of Narbonne and the mediterenean sea brought me back to earth. Soon I reached the medieval town of Minerve nestles amid breathtaking scenery made of limestone and vinyards.
