Walking North to South of the Languedoc-Roussillon Region (Day 11 to 15)
A 500 km walk completed in 21 days. My chosen way to get fitter and in the process experience the amazing diversity of the Languedoc-Roussillon Region. I started my journey from the volcanic and granitic plateau of the Aubrac ending it in the Pyrennees flirting with the Spanish border.
Minerve (Hérault) - Padern (Aude): It is a gentle descent down to Olonzac and high season in the vinyards you walk through finally reaching the Midi Canal one of the most popular cruising waterways in France as well as a remarkable work of engineering. After a few miles walking along the canal I head further south searching for more hills to climb…The regional park of Corbières Fenouillèdes is just there on the other side of the motorway and behind the Signal d’Alaric offering after a sporty sharp hike spectaucular 360° views of what is now behind me on my side and what is still to come on the southern side. I have in the process entered the Aude department welcomed by small towns of character (Ribaute, Lagrasse, Termes and St Pierre des Champs to name a few)
